Our History
Northstar Engineering was founded in September of 1998 by Mr. Phillip Santora. Mr. Santora earned his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of South Alabama in 1993. Upon graduation, Mr. Santora worked for two years as an assistant construction engineer with BCM in Mobile, Alabama. In establishing Northstar Engineering, he envisioned a corporation providing the highest quality of professional services, coupled with high ethical and moral standards toward clients and employees. The mission of Northstar Engineering is to provide high quality, cost effective, integrity-based engineering services to every client. It is also a priority of Northstar Engineering to promote the social well being around us and be considered an asset to our community.
Since its inception in 1998, Northstar Engineering Services has experienced steady growth. The company presently has two professional civil engineers with registrations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi, a professional land surveyor, four graduate engineer interns, one graduate land surveyor intern, an office administrator, four technical designers, an environmental technician and support staff. Northstar Engineering currently has certificates of authorization to practice engineering in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, and a certificate of authorization to practice land surveying in Alabama. Northstar presently has nineteen full-time employees.
Northstar Engineering owns computer workstations operating on a Windows based network platform. Design software includes AutoCad, EaglePoint survey and civil design programs, PondPack storm water modeling, StormCad pipe design software, Flowmaster culvert design software, WaterCad modeling software and RISA 3D structural modeling. Word processing is performed in Microsoft Word, while spreadsheets are processed in Microsoft Excel. Northstar also has three Nikon total station instruments, and a Topcon GR-3 GPS to perform boundary and topographic surveys.
